The new scam involves fraudsters making phony calls posing as Apple support staff. The calls look authentic because an actual Apple support number from a local Apple number and Apple logo will display on the screen. The callers use spoofing technology to alter the numbers that show up on the caller ID. The schemers then go to work attempting to steal information about iCloud accounts and passwords. CT Man Who Hacked Into More Than 200 Apple iCloud Accounts Sentenced A Connecticut man is heading to prison after flying too close to the iCloud. North Branford resident George Garofano, 26, has been sentenced to eight months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to  a computer hacking offense related to a phishing scheme that gave him access to hundreds of Apple iCloud accounts, several of which belonged to celebrities.
