Stamford Man Charged With DWI After Two-Vehicle Crash On I-287
An early morning crash on I-287 led to the arrest of an allegedly impaired Fairfield County driver who was reportedly behind the wheel with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit in Westchester. New York State Police troopers in Elmsford responded to a stretch of the interstate shortly before 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, where there was a report of a crash involving a stalled car. Ramp To I-95 Will Be Closed To All Traffic For Duration Of $135 Million Project
An exit ramp on I-95 will be closed for upwards of two years as construction continues on a stretch of I-95 as part of the $135 million “Last Mile” infrastructure project in Westchester. The New York State Thruway Authority announced that beginning Monday, April 15, the ramp from Midland Avenue to I-95 northbound in Rye will be closed to all traffic during the duration of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2021. Don't adjust your calendars. It really is April. But spring won't be "a thing" to end the workweek. That's because a storm system will bring rain to the entire region, with freezing rain farther north with some spots possibly even seeing some -- are you sitting? -- snow. Moderate snowfall from the winter storm that moved arrived in the area overnight will taper off by mid to late morning on Saturday, March 2 after a widespread 3 to 5 inches of accumulation. The snowfall has become lighter after 7 a.m. Friday, March 1, but precipitation, including snow showers and flurries, continued through around 8:30 a.m. for much of the area before tapering off. I-287 Stop In Westchester Leads To DWI Charge For Fairfield Man
A Town of Fairfield man is facing multiple charges after police conducted a traffic stop on I-287 in Westchester. The incident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 3 at around 1:20 a.m. State Police stopped a vehicle on I-287 in the town of Greenburgh for numerous vehicle and traffic violations. During the stop, the driver, 58-year-old James A. Cheney of Fairfield appeared to be intoxicated and gave police probable cause to search the vehicle. Police discovered approximately 34 grams of marijuana during the search. Cheney was arrested, transported and processed at SP Tarrytown where his BAC was found …

New Storm Update: Get Set For Snow, Freezing Rain, Followed By Flash Freeze, Icing
The major, complex three-pronged storm that will bring a mix of snow and freezing rain followed by icy/slippery conditions is looking every bit as strong as expected as it gets set to arrive in the area on Saturday, Jan. 19. A total accumulation of between 3 to 7 inches of snowfall is expected for most of the region, with up to 12 inches farthest north. (See second image above.) Significant Ice Accumulation From Major Storm Could Lead To Power Outages This Weekend
An overnight round of light snow resulted in a coating to up to an inch of accumulation on Friday morning. But that was just a very small taste of what's in store as a major storm the National Weather Service describes as "multi-hazard" comes this weekend. The storm's biggest threat will be ice, especially north of I-287 and the Merritt Parkway and just south of I-84, where a quarter-inch of ice accumulation is expected.
