ID Released For 31-Year-Old Killed After Car Mounts Sidewalk, Strikes Tree In Stamford Police have identified a woman who was killed after her vehicle crashed into a tree on New Year's Day in Fairfield County. The crash took place in Stamford around 6:10 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 1 in the area of 171 Greenwich Ave. Stamford resident Marcela Parra, age 31, was killed when the 2019 Honda she was driving southbound on Greenwich Avenue crossed over to the northbound side of the road, mounted the sidewalk, and struck a tree head-on, said Sgt. Evans Powell, age 30, was busted on Friday, Aug. 6, following a three-week investigation after receiving word that he selling drugs in Stamford, authorities said.  Stamford PD Capt. Richard Desmond, 27, of Stamford, was busted on Friday, Nov. 29, after Stamford Narc squad officers set-up surveillance on his Greenwich Avenue apartment and saw him dealing pot out of his window, said Stamford Police Capt. Robert Powell, 49, was spotted by an officer talking on his Wednesday on Greenwich Avenue, said Sgt. Brian Butler. When Powell noticed that the officer had spotted him, he sped up, went over a double-yellow line and through a red light in an attempt to get away, Butler said.
