Avelo Airlines Expands Across Long Island Sound To New Airport A popular airline in New Haven, Connecticut, is crossing the Long Island Sound and offering flights from a new airport. Avelo Airlines will begin flying from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, New York, the company said in a news release on Tuesday, Mar. 11. The carrier will begin service to three destinations in the late spring. Twice-weekly flights will be offered on Thursdays and Sundays. Bridgeport ranked second in a list of the 15 "Best Places to Raise a Family," which was created by Rocket Homes and BestPlaces.net and published on Saturday, Feb. 5. The ranking was created based on a variety of criteria, including school ratings, percent of households with children, number of parks and green spaces, crime rate, and more.
