Covid-19: List Of Most-Hiked Trails During Pandemic - Trail Use Nearly Doubles COVID-19 restrictions have pushed more people to venture outdoors and hit the hiking trails, according to data collected using infrared cameras by the University of Connecticut Trail Census.  In March, at the start of the pandemic, trail usage throughout the state increased by a whopping 77 percent compared to the same time last year. Trail use was up by more than 50 percent April through June. In March of 2019, there were 97,131 people counted on Connecticut's trails. In March of this year, there were 172,099 people. Body Located In Search Area For Missing CT Hiker This story has been updated.State police have called off a search for a missing hiker after the body of a deceased male was found in the area searchers were looking for the man. A Silver Alert was issued for Trevor French, 58, of East Granby, after he failed to return from a hike on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, Connecticut State Police said.  On Tuesday, Connecticut State Police located the body of a deceased male but said until an autopsy is performed they could not confirm if it is French.
