Expect Delays: Long Ridge Road Resurfacing Starts
There will be lane closures in Stamford for several days as crews begin a road resurfacing project in on Long Ridge Road. The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that beginning on Monday, May 14, there will be a 2.7-mile project performed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the road that is expected to last through Friday, May 18. During the scope of the project, lane closures have been scheduled on Long Ridge Road from the .28 mile north of Route 15 underpass to the 0.11 mile south of Riverbank Road. A subcommittee of the Norwalk Common Council has endorsed a settlement agreement under which the state of Connecticut would pay The Maritime Aquarium $34.5 million to replace its popular IMAX Theater. Under the agreement, the state Department of Transportation would pay the aquarium to replace the theater and lost exhibit space due to the upcoming replacement of the Walk Bridge over the Norwalk River, according to news reports. Motorists planning on traveling on Route 59 in Easton can expect slight delays in the area as crews begin efforts to replace the guardrail system and cut trees for several days. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Thursday released another plan to widen I-95 to relieve Fairfield County congestion and issued a plea to lawmakers to adopt new funding sources to pay for it.
