Suspicious Item Causes Bomb Scare At Connecticut College
A suspicious item along a walkway at Connecticut College caused a bomb scare and students to shelter in place. The incident took place in New London County around 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, at the college located on Crozireer Drive in New London. New London police and fire personnel responded to the college after receiving information regarding a "suspicious" item on the walking path between the student center and the Plex, said Capt. COVID-19 outbreaks on New England college campuses have infected more than 1,000 students and *staff since the pandemic began. Connecticut has had 434 cases at 10 schools while neighboring Massachusetts has had 439 cases at 42 schools. Ex-Connecticut College Employee Sentenced For Embezzlement Schemes
A former Connecticut College employee will spend more than a year behind bars after admitting to a four-year scheme that helped him embezzle more than $150,000. Michael Kmec of Marlborough, Connecticut has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud related to an embezzlement scheme in Hartford federal court in November last year. New Forbes Rankings Reveal Best Value Colleges In Connecticut
A new study by Forbes ranks Connecticut's top universities by the value of their education. Topping the nationwide study is Yale University in New Haven, which ranked 14th overall. The Ivy League institution's average annual tuition is $47,600. Wesleyan University in Middletown ranked 33rd nationwide with an annual tuition of $49,274. Trinity College in Hartford was ranked 63rd. It's annual average tuition is $50,776. The University of Connecticut in Storrs was ranked 124th nationwide by Forbes.
