Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Entire Region, With Damaging Wind Gusts Possible
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for the entire region.
Damaging winds with gusts that could cause power outings are the main threat, the National Weather Service said in issuing the alert. Flash flooding, frequent lightning and large hail are possible.
It lasts until 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, for these areas:
Long Island,
Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties in the Hudson Valley,
All of New York City,
Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, New Haven, New London, Middlesex, Tolland, and New London counties in Connecticut.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for much of the region.
It lasts until 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, and covers Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Greene, Columbia counties in New York, Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, New Haven, Tolland, New London, and Middlesex counties in Connecticut, and all of Massachusetts except Cape Cod, and northeast Pennsylvania. Isaias: NY, CT Both Declare States Of Emergency
After being devastated by Tropical Storm Isaias, New York, and Connecticut have both declared a State of Emergency as they recover from the wreckage of the storm.
With hundreds of thousands of New York and Connecticut residents possibly being stuck in the dark for days due to outages, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Gov. Ned Lamont, respectively, announced that their states will be entering a State of Emergency effective Wednesday, Aug. 5.
