Three From CT Among Four Nabbed For Trafficking Cocaine Through US Mail
Four are facing charges for allegedly trafficking cocaine from Puerto Rico into Connecticut, federal authorities announced.
A federal grand jury in New Haven announced the indictment of four suspects with cocaine traffic offenses for their roles in the operation, which lasted months.
Those charged:
Jean Mangual-Castro, age 34, of West Haven;
Jason Spearman, also known as “J” and “Deuce,” age 34, of New Haven;
Enid Castro, age 52, of West Haven;
Maria Alejandra Perrez Torres, also known as “Alej,” and “Alejandra Perez,” age 21, of Villalba, Puerto Rico.

A 38-year-old Connecticut man has admitted to multiple charges after a search of his storage unit uncovered firearms, fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin.
New Haven County resident Lenwood Gatling, of Waterbury, pleaded guilty on Monday, May 2, to one count of possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, according to Leonard Boyle, United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.

A Fairfield County man has been charged in connection with three overdose deaths that happened in one day two years ago.
Xavier Flores, age 38, of Norwalk, was arrested in Stamford on Wednesday, April 20 for the deaths which took place on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

A 33-year-old man has been sentenced for distributing heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine in Connecticut.
Darryl Russell, of New Haven, was sentenced on Monday, April 11, to 27 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, according to Leonard Boyle, United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.
New Haven Police encountered James Lee on March 13, 2021, when he was sitting in a car that had fled police days prior, and police searched Lee's person and found $3,815 and $3,443 in the car, the DA's Office reported.

An arrest has been made in connection to the overdoses of six male college students, including several West Point cadets, on spring break in Florida.

Two Connecticut residents were arrested and charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl.
Willie Franco, age 33, and 31-year-old Daniella Fox, both of New Haven, were both arrested on Monday, March 7, according to Leonard Boyle, United States attorney for the District of Connecticut.
On Wednesday, March 2, investigators intercepted a USPS parcel containing about a kilogram of cocaine and a kilogram of fentanyl that was being sent to an address in East Haven associated with the two defendants, Boyle reported.

James Lee, of New Haven, was sentenced to 46 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, according to Leonard Boyle, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Lee pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, and cocaine base on Sept. 28, Boyle reported.
On March 13, police found Lee in a car that had fled from authorities on March 8, 2021, the report said.
