CT Woman Nabbed Stealing $38K From Fairfield County Resident, Police Say A Connecticut woman has been arrested for allegedly writing more than $38,000 in fraudulent checks from the account of a Fairfield County resident. An investigation into the incident began in Westport in June 2021 after a resident reported that an unknown person has used his personal information to write more than $38,000 in checks. The checks were deposited into a Citibank account which led detectives to question a man identified as Eldrege Christmas as a suspect, said Lt. David Wolf, of the Westport Police. Woman, 20, Accused Of Taking Part In Forged Check Scam, Fairfield PD Says A 20-year-old woman was arrested by police in Fairfield County for running a sophisticated forged check scam. Fairfield Police were first alerted to the scam after a resident reported that one of her personal checks for $750 had been stolen from her mailbox and later cashed at a Citibank for $15,720 payable to Dayana Castillo, of the Bronx, said Fairfield Police Lt. Antonio Granata. Pilot Killed In Helicopter Crash-Landing On Manhattan High-Rise A helicopter pilot who was killed while crashing-landing on the roof of a building Monday afternoon in midtown Manhattan was from Dutchess County, the FAA reported. Tim McCormack of Clinton Corners was the only victim in the crash. He was reported deceased 45 minutes later. His father and grandfather were Poughkeepsie firefighters. Woman, 21, Tried To Deposit Fake Check In Westport, Police Say A 21-year-old woman was arrested by Westport Police after allegedly attempting to deposit a fraudulent check. The incident took place around 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 19, when Westport officers were dispatched to Citibank on a report of a female attempting to deposit a fraudulent check into the account of a third person, said the Westport Police.
