Fairfield Names New Police Chief After more than 20 years on the job, a Fairfield County police captain has been selected to serve as chief of the department. Capt. Robert Kalamaras has been selected as the new police chief of the Fairfield Police Department, replacing Chief Christopher Lyddy, who is retiring on Friday, Jan. 22, after 38 years with the department. Stamford Man Causes Damage To Girlfriend's Fairfield Home, Holds Police At Bay During Standoff A Fairfield County man was arrested after he was allegedly caught breaking windows at his girlfriend's home during a domestic dispute. Derek Pflueger, 40, of Stamford, was arrested around 10:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, after Fairfield Police responded to a 911 call at a home on Kings Highway, said Lieutenant Antonio Granata.  The victim was able to run out of the home and call police reporting the violent behavior, which dispatchers relayed to responding officers, Granata said.
