Lamar Woodhouse, age 39, of New Haven, was killed early on Thursday, March 17, by the man he was attempting to rob at the Brandford Motel, located on East Main Street, police said. According to Brandford Police detectives, Woodhouse was attempting to rob a man at the motel at gunpoint when the man pulled out a gun and shot him. Woman Hit, Killed By Amtrak Train In Connecticut A 22-year-old Connecticut woman was hit and killed by an Amtrak train while allegedly "trespassing" on the tracks. Alexandra Trippodo, of Branford, was hit and killed around 1:10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 13 when she was hit on the tracks east of New Haven, said Beth Toll, a spokeswoman for Amtrak. According to Toll, Trippodo was hit by Amtrak Acela train 2248 on its way from Washington, D.C. to Boston, just east of the New Haven station.  There were no reported injuries to the 137 passengers on board or crew members, she said. Police were called to Motel 6 on East Main Street in Branford at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, following reports of a woman who was stabbed in the neck. As officers arrived, they found their suspect, 69-year-old John Ginnetti, who was attempting to leave the parking lot of the motel. The woman was transported to the Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she was last listed in stable condition. Ginnetti, of Madison, was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree assault. The incident took place around 8:20 a.m. Sunday on Route 1, in Branford, said the Branford Police Department on Facebook. According to police, a white Ford Super Duty pickup truck driven by a white male struck the bicyclist near the intersection of Route 1 and Featherbed Lane. The driver then fled eastbound on Route 1.
