Manchester firefighters pulled off a dramatic cold-water rescue Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31, after an adult and two young children fell through the ice on a pond. The incident occurred at 2:11 p.m. behind 218 Hackmatack Street, according to the Manchester Fire Department. The shift commander arrived at 2:15 p.m. Crews found three victims—one adult and two children—trapped in icy water approximately 35 feet from the shore in a pond roughly six feet deep, the fire department said. A 16-year-old Connecticut boy drowned in a public pool overnight after jumping the fenced property to enter the pool. The incident took place in East Hartford shortly after midnight, on Thursday, July 28, at the Terry Pool, located in Hockanum Park at 320 High St. Police responded to Terry Pool on a report of juveniles inside the fenced area of the property, said Officer Marc Caruso, of the East Hartford Police. UConn Senior From Fairfield County Killed In Crash
A University of Connecticut student from Fairfield County has died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover crash. The crash happened around 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 in Coventry, Connecticut, about seven miles west of UConn's campus in Storrs. The student has been identified as Cole Montefusco, 21, of Redding, a 2016 graduate of Joel Barlow High School.
