FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Giants football players and cheerleaders volunteered time with Westport-based Al's Angels to help make Thanksgiving better for others in need.
The players and cheerleaders volunteered their time as part of the Fairfield Giants Community Service program. They worked volunteer shifts on Saturday, preparing Thanksgiving food baskets for more than 1,300 families this holiday season.
"AL's Angels are just one of the many community service programs in which the Giants organization donates their time to," said a press release. "The program is not just about football or cheer, but also about respect, responsibility, good sportsmanship, and giving back to the community in many different ways."
Westport-based Al’s Angels was founded in 2004 by Al DiGuido, CEO and founder of Zeta Interactive, a full-service interactive marketing company based in New York City. Its the mission is to provide moments of joy and comfort to families that are challenged by childhood cancer, rare blood diseases, AIDS, domestic violence and financial hardship.
