Warde Girls Track Team Drops a Pair

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Warde’s girls track and field team came into Monday’s meet against Darien and Danbury undefeated. The Mustangs were overmatched, however, against two of the premier teams in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference.

Darien defeated Warde, 115-30, while Danbury posted a 79.5-55.5 victory over the Mustangs. Warde won two events, with Cate Allen taking the 1,60 and freshman Lia Joham capturing the 400.

Allen had a tight race in the 1,600, but pulled ahead of Darien’s Grace Loh and won in 5:14.4. Loh took second in 5:15.5. Joham won in 58.4, edging Darien’s Anna Sulger, who ran 59.0.

Caroline Keough ran a strong 3,200, taking second in 11:46.0.

Danbury hurt the Mustangs in the field events, as the Hatters won the pole vault, triple jump, shot put and javelin.

Warde will compete in the league championships next Tuesday at Danbury.
