FAIRFIELD, Conn. The youth football season unofficially began this past weekend when teams from Fairfield and seven other towns participated in the annual Fairfield County Football League Tackle Jamboree.
Players in grades three through eight ran drills and competed in shortened games all over the county in anticipation of the start of the regular season.
Younger players competed under the watchful eye of coaches and referees as they were taught how to line up on offense and defense and how to tackle. And when an opposing player did something well, coaches made sure to point that out to their players.
The Fairfield County Football League kicks off play Saturday, Sept. 1.
