FAIRFIELD, Conn. The University of Albany outscored Sacred Heart 35-24 in the seconed half Sunday to pull away for a 64-54 victory in womens basketball.
Albany improved to 6-4 on the season and remains undefeated at home. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Pioneers.
Starters Gabrielle Washington and Callan Taylor each scored 13 for Sacred Heart. Morgan Merriman came off the bench to add 10 points. Sacred Hearts other starters Ericka Norman, Kiley Evans and Enjoli Bland combined for just three points
Albany took control with a 10-2 run to take a 49-40 lead with less thn 10 minutes to play. Sacred Heart also had difficulty stopping Albany center Megan Craig, who scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Sacred Heart returns to the court Dec. 30 for another road contest at Manhattan.
