FAIRFIELD, Conn. The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team plays its season opener Tuesday night when it hosts Stony Brook at 7 p.m. at the Pitt Center.
Sacred Heart (1-0) defeated the University of Hartford in its season-opener Friday in the Connecticut 6 Classic. Stamford's Chris Evans, a sophomore guard, had a career-high nine rebounds in the victory. Norwalk's Evan Kelley, the starting point guard, scored 7 points for the Pioneers.
SHU leads the all-time series with Stony Brook, 14-4, and won the last meeting, 75-66, on Dec. 12, 2010. Stony Brook is coached by former UConn player Steve Pikiell. The Seawolves are 1-1.
