FAIRFIELD, Conn. Cameron Marantz, of Philadelphia, and Meredith Anand, of Easton, won the mens and womens divisions of Fairfield's Pequot Runners 5-mile Thanksgiving Day road race. There were 4,233 finishers in the race that began at the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport.
Marantz won in 25:25 on a picture-perfect morning for running on one of the countys fastest courses. Westports Henry Wynne took second, followed by Luke McCambley, also of Westport. Anand won in 28:49, followed by Stamfords Sharon Lemberger and Hope Krause, of New Canaan.
Runners from Fairfield and Southport scored some age-group victories. Melissa Ulbrick won the girls 1-12 age group, followed by Brianna Auray. Alllie Neugebauer was fifth.
Other Fairfield runners in the top five in their age groups included Lexi Hoadley, fourth in girls 13-19; Megan Peterson, third in women 20-29; Cait Bradley, fourth in women 20-29; Jen Lane, fourth in women 50-59; Deborah Sylvestro, second in women 60-69; Maryjane McGoldrick, fourth in women 60-69; David Bates, first in boys 1-12; Ben Ertel (fourth) and Kevin Bradley (fifth) in boys 1-12; Ryan Sterner, fifth in men 20-29; Mark Drummond, fifth in men 50-59; Ed Huydic, fourth in men 60-69; and Joseph Okarmus, fourth in men 70-99.
