The Fairfield Ludlowe girls varsity lacrosse team enters the 2011 season in an unfamiliar position -- as defending state champions. The Falcons won the school's first-ever state title last June, defeating Staples in a 15-9 comeback victory for the Division II state title.
In the video, Ludlowe head coach Amy Alvord discusses how the Falcons are trying to move on from their title and prepare for the new three division system in Connecticut girls lacrosse. Gone are teams like Granby Memorial and Haddam-Killingworth. Now Ludlowe will have to tackle teams like Greenwich and Glastonbury come the post-season.
Fairfield Ludlowe begins its title defense with a three-game road trip starting at New Canaan on Thursday, April 7. The Falcons host their first home game against New Fairfield on Saturday, April 16.
