Locals Swim Big at Wahoos Meet

Eric Ronda of Greenwich, Sam Delise of Easton and Olivia Clark of Weston each chalked up new Y national qualifying times at the annual Wilton Y Wahoos Thanksgiving Invitational. Fairfield's Amelia Sicignano was high point winner for the 10 and under girls division.

More than 650 swimmers from eight Northeastern teams convened for the recent invitational. It proved to be an outstanding weekend for the Wahoos, with many swimmers achieving personal bests. Kathryn Cunningham slashed nearly a full minute off her previous best time in the 500-yard freestyle. NoraNoel Nolan shaved more than 20 seconds off her personal best in the 200 freestyle.

The swimmers also participated in a food drive, piling up dozens of bags of food for a local shelter.

"The Thanksgiving Invitational was a great event, with many Wahoos at every level posting personal best times," said Randy Erlenbach, director of Competitive Aquatics at the Wilton Y. "We're looking forward to an even faster December."
