The Fairfield PAL sixth-grade girls won the Fairfield County Basketball League "B" division championship in a game that came down to a duel between Fairfield and Westport PAL's two tall centers. Fairfield's Ilíana Krasnigichi and Westport's Grace McGinley anchored their team's defenses and set up low-post attacks.
After an even first quarter, Krasnigichi won the day. She scored a game-high 25 points and racked up nine blocks to lift Fairfield to the FCBL "B" division title, 39-25.
Lexi Kimball snagged a steal and netted a layup at the first quarter buzzer to give Fairfield the lead and Fairfield never looked back.
Anna Glovin displayed excellent ball handling and dribbling skills, leading the team in assists. Glovin finished with eight points.
Fairfield PAL sixth-grade girls finish their championship season at 17-5.
