Gabby's Diary: Busy Days in Bristol

Gabby Natoli of the Fairfield Little League Girls Softball All-Star team is writing a diary of her experiences as the team competes at the East Regional in Bristol.

Hey guys! Gabby Natoli and the Fairfield Little League girls softball team here in Bristol. On Tuesday morning after breakfast we hung out and read and napped. Then we went to watch the Massachusetts vs. Vermont game. There we got slushies and some candy. After that we went to fielding practice and lunch. Next we hung out and went to dinner, where it started pouring.

After a 30-minute rain delay, the game was back on and we had to go to batting practice, and after that, our game against Rhode Island. Our starting positions were Alice pitching, Julia catching, me at first, Anna at second, Emma at short, Mary Rose at third, Erin in left, Sarah in center, and Eliza and Madison in right. Some highlights were: I hit a double, Anna had a diving catch and Emma and Anna participated in an awesome double play. Unfortunately, we lost 4-3, but they had a good game and we kept fighting the whole way! I was a little upset, but it was a pretty good game, so that made it better.

After the game we went to pizza then to bed. After breakfast we rested, then went to the movies! We watched "Mr. Poppers Penguins," which was very cute and funny. When we got back, some went swimming while the others watched a movie or napped. Also, some teams traded pins with us. So far we have New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and all the teams from New England.

After we traded, we went back to our dorms to rest, then off to dinner and after that, practice. First we hit, where everyone was doing well. Next we fielded, and since we were doing so well, the coaches let us go back to our dorms to clean-up and try to win the "Cleanest Room Award." Then we went to the Rhode Island-Massachusetts game. Rhode Island ended up winning 14-6, but it was a fun game to watch. After the game we went for pizza, hung out with Rhode Island, then to bed.

Now we know that we are the number one seed and are going to play Massachusetts on Thursday at 8.
