After hundreds of games across the state with countless possibilities for competitors, the Class LL volleyball final comes down to two heated rivals that know each other well. Fairfield Ludlowe returns to the state championship for the second year in a row to take on the Greenwich Cardinals, who are making their first-ever appearance in the title game. The championship match will take place at 7 tonight at Glastonbury High School.
The FCIAC rivals have already played two heated matches this season and the results have gone both ways. Greenwich handed the Falcons their first loss of the season Oct. 4. Ludlowe exacted revenge with a dominant 3-1 victory in the FCIAC semifinals.
The championship game is sure to be a close and emotional game, given the recent history between the two teams. Maddie McCaffrey, Emily Nelson, and Ashley Curtis lead the Ludlowe team. Greenwich's top players include Rebecca Schreff, Christine Lo and Mirei Kato.
