Fairfielder Stars in U.S. Romp Over Russia

Fairfield’s Julie Chu was named the Player of the Game for the United States women’s hockey team after she collected a goal and three assists in the team’s 13-1 rout of Russia at the World Women’s Championship.

Team USA is now 2-0 in the tournament after beating Slovakia, 5-0, in its opening game. The U.S. plays Sweden on Wednesday. Hilary Knight had six points in Team USA’s rout of Russia, with three goals and three assists. Seven players had multi-point games.

The U.S. appears headed for another showdown with Canada in the championship game. Canada is 3-0 in Group B. The quarterfinals are Friday and the semifinals are Saturday. The championship game is Monday. The tournament is being played in Zurich.
