FAIRFIELD, Conn. – American University’s Carly Birkhold, a junior from Fairfield, finished third for the school’s cross country team in the Patriot League Championships last weekend in Hamilton, N.Y.
Birkhold finished 38th overall in 24:50.9 for the 6-kilometer course. American finished eighth in team scoring.
Birkhold was a two-time all-league selection at Warde. She had a terrific indoor season last winter at American, where she won the 3,000 in the George Mason Patriot Games. She also posted the sixth best time in the event in school history with a 10:15:45 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. She was named to the Patriot League academic honor roll.
