FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield's softball team continues to thump pitchers in the Eastern Regional tournament in Bristol. The girls pounded Massachusetts on Saturday, 11-7, for its second straight victory. Maine is the only other undefeated team from the five New England states.

After Massachusetts scored three in the first, Fairfield responded with five. Natoli and Rasmussen had RBI singles in the inning, which also included two Massachusetts errors and walks to Nelson, Cotto and Eliza Elliot. Emma Houghton reached base on an error.

Fairfield added two in the second and two in the third. Massachusetts crept within 9-6 with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth. Fairfield scored two in the fifth on a big two-out single by Elliot.
