FAIRFIELD, Conn. The Fairfield University mens basketball team defeated the University of New Hampshire Sunday, 58-52, for its fourth straight victory. Ryan Olander scored 19 points and Derek Needham added 15 for the Stags. The game was played in Bridgeport.
New Hampshire scored the opening basket, but that was the Wildcats only led of the game. Fairfield scored the next seven points and built a 25-19 halftime lead. New Hampshire tied the game at 25-25 in the second half before Fairfield went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good.
Rakim Sanders added eight points and six rebounds for the Stags (7-4). Fairfield returns to action on Dec. 22 when it plays the University of Connecticut in Hartford.
