Fairfield Race Gives Runners a Final Shot

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Runners looking to get one final race in before the new year will have a chance Sunday in the 13th Holiday Run for Toys. The 5K race begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Scandinavian Club on South Pine Creek Road in Fairfield.

The race is the final running event of the year in lower Fairfield County. Runners can register beginning at 8:15 a.m. for $10 and a new unwrapped toy.

The race features post-race food, and the course will include a short segment along a trail, if conditions permit. If not, it will be run entirely on roads.

There were 214 finishers last year. Valentin Lopes of Bridgeport won the men’s division, Liz Gottlieb won the women’s side. Complete details are available on the race website.
