Jack O'Connor, Brendan Hoffman, Colin Smalkais and Nick Franchuk are the four members of the Class of 2016 going on to continue their athletic careers.
O'Connor, a resident of Stamford, will play at Bowdoin College. Not only has he excelled at lacrosse and cross-country, earning all-conference honors in both, he is a National Honors Society member and a National Scholar Athlete Award for his work in the classroom.
Darien resident Hoffman is headed to Williams College. He is a magna cum laude scholar along with being a member of the mentoring program of the Stamford Boys and Girls Club.
Smalkais, of Monroe, will play at Union College. He has been a four-year member of the school's ice hockey team, as well as lacrosse. Along with earning all-conference honors on the lacrosse field, he is a coach with youth hockey and lacrosse programs in Bridgeport. Smalkais is also a magna cum laude scholar at the school.
Franchuk, a resident of Southport, will play for Navy after a post-graduate year. Along with his play as a defenseman on the lacrosse field, earning all-state and all-conference honors, he earned all-conference honors in football as a linebacker and running back.
Franchuk will spend the spring as a student leader on the school's first trip to the Center for Student Missions in Los Angeles, working with the homeless and at-risk youth.
