On Sunday, the Fairfield Firefighters will host their 33rd Fairfield Half-Marathon Road Race to benefit many local and regional charities. Last year, more than $400,000 was raised. The race is sold out, but residents are invited to come out and cheer on the 4,000 runners participating.

Here are the traffic warnings for the half-marathon:

  • Residents south of Old Post Road between Reef Road and Beach Road should expect traffic delays between 8:30 and 8:50 a.m. and again when runners return between 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance will not be delayed during the race.

The course map and other information can be found at www.fairfieldhalf.org. The course has been altered since last year so be sure to check out the route.

The 2013 course is flatter, faster and more scenic than the previous course, course organizers said. This year's race returns to Westport and will include breath-taking coastline views. The course will no longer run through the hills of Greenfield Hill.
