Paul Stafstrom (left), T.J. Hardiman (center) and Matt Russo (right) of the Fairfield Giants Pop Warner Pee Wee Giants were on hand Wednesday when the University of Connecticut football team celebrated its Big East championship.
UConn, which meets Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1, received the Big East Trophy on Wednesday at Gampel. Several players were also honored. The Big East Conference Offensive Player of the Year honor went to running back Jordan Todman (left). Todman and offensive lineman Zach Hurd (right, with trophy) were unanimous first-team All-Big East selections, joining four other Husky players. Coach Randy Edsall was named Big East Co-Coach of the Year.
