Fairfield Giants Kick Off Season Friday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Giants are scheduled to kick off the Pop Warner youth football season Friday when they host Seymour at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Field. The Giants host the first Pop Warner game every year. It is called the Sullivan Bowl and is named for Fairfield's former first selectman. He was instrumental in starting the Fairfield league. Friday's game is a Junior Midget contest for players ages 10 to 12.

In games Saturday, the Mighty Mites play at 11 a.m., the Junior Pee Wees play at 1 p.m. and the Pee Wees play at 3 p.m. All of Fairfield's games this weekend are against Seymour. The team plays in the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner league.

In the event of field closures, call the Giants hotline at 203-842-4014 after 8 a.m. Saturday for information.

The Giants have won four state championships in the past four years, and its 2009 Pee Wee team finished fourth in the nation. The 2007 Junior Pee Wees finished second in the country. For more information on the league, visit the Giants' website.
