The game is Fairfield's second in Pool B play. The opening round is double elimination, meaning that even if Fairfield loses, there will be another game. Fairfield defeated Auburn, Wash., 3-1 on Friday. Auburn remained alive with a victory over Plymouth, Minn. Plymouth was eliminated after also losing to Texas.

Fairfield will lean on either Jack Quinn or Eddie Magi on the mound after a dominant performance by ace Nick Nardone on Friday. Magi was 2-0 in the New England Regional; Quinn was the winning pitcher in the sectional championship and pitched once in the regionals.

Nardone, one of Fairfield's top hitters, will move to shortstop.

Pearland defeated Plymouth, 10-8, on Friday. The Texas team is led by Hunter Smith, who hit .500 with five RBI in the regionals, as well as the power-hitting Orlando brothers, Beau and Jake.

If Fairfield wins, the New England champs would have one more game in pool play, against either Pearland or Auburn, who would face each other first. If Fairfield loses, it will play Auburn for a second time and then play Pearland in the pool championship.
