Fairfield American Opens Against Vermont

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield American Little League All-Stars open play in the New England Regional Friday against Vermont. Game time is 8:15 at Leon J. Breen Field  in Bristol.

Vemont's team comes from Barre. The other teams in the New England Regional are Cumberland American of Rhode Island, Goffstown of New Hampshire, Yarmouth of Maine and Andover National of Massachusetts.

The opening ceremonies are Friday at 7:15. Fairfield's other games are Saturday at 8 p.m. vs. Maine; Sunday at 5 vs. New Hampshire and Tuesday at 1 p.m. vs. Rhode Island. The top four teams begin the playoffs for the New England title on Thursday, Aug. 11.

Fairfield American won its second straight state title on Tuesday with a 13-2 win over Glastonbury. Last year, Fairfield American reached the Little League World Series.

Fairfield's team includes Jon Annuzzi, Brendan Bucher, Grant Carnemark, Conner Devaney, Brendan Flynn, Sean Gutierrez, Aidan Kudzy, Brendan Layne, Connor Lynch, Jack Oricoli, Eddie Schwartz, Reed Szemplinski and Philip Vlandis. The team is managed by Kevin Flynn.
