FAIRFIELD, Conn. Fairfield American r olled over Trumbull American, 9-0, Tuesday to finish 5-0 in its pool of the District 2 Little League tournament.
The Americans qualified for the double elimination phase of the tournament and will play Westport on Monday at Blackham School in Bridgeport. Fairfield National meets Trumbull American in the other first-round double elimination game. The tournament concludes the weekend of July 16.
Eddie Schwartz pitched a complete game for the Americans, striking out 12. He allowed four hits and walked three. Sean Gutierrez hit a home run for the Americans.
In earlier tournament play, Fairfield American beat Westport 6-1, Easton 8-3, Monroe 5-3 and Park City 19-0. Fairfield National went 5-0 in the Red Division. Trumbull American went 4-1, and Westport 3-2.
