Coaches Name Nagy an All-Star

Fresh off a FCIAC title victory and a deep run in the state tournament, Fairfield Ludlowe star outfielder Tom Nagy was picked for the Connecticut High School Coaches' Association (CHSCA) Senior All-Star Game on Friday.

Nagy will play for the District II team in the 37th annual game, which will be played at Plainville High School on June 15.

He led the state in home runs this season with seven, helping the Falcons to the FCIAC championship over Greenwich and the state quarterfinals, where they lost to East Lyme last week. Nagy was named the FCIAC tournament most valuable player after hitting a long home run in the title game.

Earning the nickname "Man-Child" from his coaches and teammates after his dominant sophomore season, Nagy struggled in his junior year. "After last year I wasn't really content with myself," Nagy said after the FCIAC title victory. "I had a pretty bad year. I worked hard this offseason, got my eyes checked, and it's made all the difference this season."

He will not travel far from home to continue playing next year, as he will join the Fairfield University Stags baseball team. He is a cousin of former Major League Baseball and University of Connecticut pitcher Charles Nagy, who also excelled at Ludlowe.

His team will face District IV at 5 p.m, with the Division III and I teams battling at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will face the winner of Division I and III the next day at 5 p.m.

Mark Connor of Fairfield Prep was also chosen for the team.
