“On the 50th day of the school year we’ll have t-shirts for the preschoolers and we’ll get the older students will be counting to 50 of something,” said Mary Karl, co-director of the school.
There will also be a family scavenger hunt were current students, alumni and their parents can hunt across town for clues and items. And, Karl said, the parent board is planning a gala for this spring.
Technically, its only the 50th anniversary for the pre-school, Karl said, the after school program came into existence roughly 30 years ago. “But because we’re one big program we’re all celebrating,” she said.
And the more than 50 pre-school students were welcomed to their first day of classes on Monday with signs around the school celebrating the school being “50 Years Young”.
The nearly 30 students who go to Hurllbut Elementary School have been coming to Norfield since school started in August.
