This marks the fourth consecutive year Sacred Heart University has been recognized by the Business Council for its healthy practices, but the first time the university has received a platinum award.
The SHU Human Resources Division launched its Wellness Program in the fall of 2007. Its goal is to provide employees with the opportunity to become more aware of their health and to take action to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“We believe that providing employees with access to health and wellness programs translates into a positive and productive workforce,” Robert M. Hardy, vice president for Human Resources said in a statement.
Among the program offerings are on-site fitness classes, including Pilates, spinning, yoga, boot camp and TRX; discounts at local fitness centers; an annual university health fair for faculty and staff, students and family members with free flu shots, biometric health screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations and more.
