FAIRFIELD, Conn. Fairfield Warde High Schools headmaster will be recognized as one of the best school leaders in the state Friday night. James Coyne won the Connecticut Parent Teacher Student Associations Outstanding High School Principal of the Year Award.
The Connecticut PTSA gives the award out to one school administrator at each grade level each year. The honors criteria say the winning principal or headmaster should welcome all families into the school community, share power with parents and teachers, support student success and communicate with families effectively.
The Fairfield Warde PTA executive award nominated Coyne for the honor. In its nomination letter the group listed many small things that highlighted Coynes communication with families, from his visible and approachable attitude at ninth grade orientations to his work on the Fairfield PTA Council.
Every time Jim Coyne speaks to a school audience, he defines Wardes acronym--welcoming, academic, respectful, dynamic and ethical--by always establishing an atmosphere of accessibility and welcome, PTA President Catherine Giff wrote in her nomination letter.
Coyne will receive the honor at the Connecticut PTSA annual meeting and awards banquet Friday evening in North Haven.
