You might be part of a CBS special set to air nationally on Christmas Eve.
“Christmas Eve with Fairfield University” will air for an hour beginning at 11:35 p.m. Dec. 24 and will offer a window into the holiday season at a modern, New England Jesuit college.
It is being produced for CBS by the university and its Media Center and will include footage from the 6 p.m. tree lighting outside the university’s chapel.
Traditionally a student event, this year’s tree lighting is open to the public and will include appearances by college singing groups the Bensonians and Sweet Harmony, Santa and Mrs. Claus and Lucas, Fairfield’s stag mascot.
The CBS special will also feature professor/composer Brian Torff and New Duke, alumni band Lionfish and reflections from students, priests and others on campus.
The opportunity to create the program came after alumnus John Blessington ’65, a senior producer at the network for more than 30 years, presented the idea to the university.
