The library and S4 are joining to bring the "evidence-based" study skills workshop to area high school students beginning in November, according to a press release. The workshop is open to all area students who are enrolled in grades 9 through 12.

"The workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn while reducing stress," representatives said in the release.

Classes will be held on three Saturdays, Nov. 2, 9, and 16 at the library’s main branch, located at 1080 Old Post Road in Fairfield, according to the release.

"The dynamic workshops are taught by accredited teachers and class size is limited to 15 students," representatives said in the release. "Small class size allows for more focused and individualized attention to be given to each participating student."

The study skills program from S4 "is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies," according to the release

“We are excited to offer the S4 workshop at the Fairfield Public Library," said Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4, in the release. "Whether students have just transitioned into high school or are simply looking to improve their overall academic experience, we offer tools that can help them succeed. Implementing even a single new skill has been shown to boost students’ motivation and academic performance.”

The 7.5-hour, three-session workshop costs $395. Those looking for more information are asked to contact S4 at 203-30-S-K-I-L-L (203-307-5455), or email info@S4StudySkills.com.
