Hwang met with the staff of Companions & Homemakers, Inc., a privately owned Connecticut business providing in-home care to the elderly residents of Connecticut since 1990. The Senator was eager to learn more about the industry, the clients served and the many caregivers employed by Companions & Homemakers throughout the state.
“My priority at the State Capitol is to make sure the companion care provided to Connecticut’s elderly residents inside their home is a role model for the nation,” Sen. Hwang said. “That’s why I wanted to meet with and learn from these professional caregivers who work in Fairfield, Westport, and throughout Connecticut. Companions & Homemakers provides quality, affordable care to our seniors, allowing our loved ones to enjoy their independence at home. At the same time, this is a growing and successful business which is creating quality jobs here in Fairfield County and across the state."
Hwang was re-elected in November to represent Connecticut’s 28th Senate District, including the towns of Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, Weston and Westport.
Jonathan Hunt, Director of Communications, said the company appreciated the opportunity to connect with Hwang.
"Senator Hwang’s prompt response to our invitation was very much appreciated, as was his interest in helping us in our mission in order to best serve the elderly residents within our state, as well as advocate for the best interests of our dedicated caregiver employees,'' Hunt said. “It is encouraging for local businesses, such as Companions & Homemakers, invested within the state to have the support and advocacy of legislature.”
