To the editor:
I am writing in support of Ray Neuberger for state representative in the 133rd district. Ray is an RTM member and chairman of the Public Works & Planning Committee. I have personally worked with Ray these past 3 years in the RTM. I vouch for the work he has done for Fairfield and I vouch for the good work he will accomplish in Hartford.
Unfortunately, our current State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey has caved to the political pressure of her party that is evidenced in the fact that she voted 98 percent of the time with Gov. Dannel Malloy. She voted to cut education reimbursement to Fairfield by $1.2 million in committee. As a parent, I find this disgraceful, duplicitous and unacceptable. She also voted to fund the last two budgets that imposed massive tax increases and ran business out of state. Connecticut is the least tax friendly state for retirees and has the 2nd highest real estate taxes in the nation.
As Abraham Lincoln said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."
Connecticut is facing dire fiscal issues and we need to send someone to Hartford who will fight for us. Time is running out and the stakes are very high. We need a change and that change can be found in Ray Neuberger. I hope the voters of the 133rd district will cast a vote for him on Nov. 8.
