To the Editor:
There is little doubt that Connecticut has been heading in the wrong direction over the past few years. We rank at or near the bottom in so many categories. Businesses and retirees are fleeing Connecticut at a record rate. Yet, some of our politicians in Hartford don’t seem to get the message.
Unfortunately, Cristin McCarthy Vahey is one of those people. She has voted with the Governor and democratic leaders 98 percent of the time over the last two years.
I could not believe what I saw at the last budget vote. Vahey voted to allow the cut to Fairfield’s education funding of $1.2 million to pass through her committee. When the budget vote came to the floor, Vahey “passed” when the vote came to her. She then watched the vote totals come in. When she realized the budget had enough votes to pass, she was the last person in the entire legislature to vote and voted against the budget. However, when the vote was cast to fund the budget, she voted in favor of the budget and funded it.
Unfortunately, Vahey has become a politician who is devoutly loyal to her party leadership and Governor Malloy. We need a change. We need to send a message to all our politicians that we do not appreciate these types of games. We need politicians who will lead and not just follow.
The time has come for a change and I hope you will join me in supporting Ray Neuberger for State Representative on November 8th.
