Clinton received approximately 51.8 percent of the votes of registered Democrats throughout the state, with Bernie Sanders coming in second at 46.4 percent, according to the Secretary of the State.
On the Republican side, Trump ran away with the election, receiving approximately 57.9 percent of the vote, with John Kasich coming in second at about 28.4 percent.
Trump also won the other four primaries held Tuesday, picking up wins in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Rhode Island. Clinton won Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, while Sanders pulled ahead in Rhode Island.
In Fairfield County, Trump won the majority of towns except for Darien, New Canaan and Westport, where Kasich received the majority of votes.
Clinton was also the favorite in most Fairfield County towns, except for Bethel, Brookfield, Monroe, New Fairfield, Shelton and Sherman, where Sanders received the majority of votes.
In all, a total of 60,878 registered Republicans cast their vote in Tuesday’s primary, while 77,336 registered Democrats went out to the polls to pick their preferred nominees.
Here’s a rundown of the total amount of votes each candidate received across Fairfield County, according to unofficial totals from the Secretary of the State. Winners are presented in bold:
