“I am running for State Representative in Fairfield because I genuinely care about people and finding real solutions to the problems facing our families,” said Georgiadis, a Democrat. “As a community leader and mother of triplets, I have learned that only through hard work, advocacy and commitment can we make real change. Connecticut has some immense challenges to overcome in the years ahead. In my years as a community volunteer and RTM member, I have earned a reputation for working across party lines to do what’s right for our families. That’s exactly the approach I’ll take to Hartford.”

In the Connecticut House, Georgiadis’ priorities will include developing and passing fiscally responsible budgets that protect education, job creation, infrastructure, public safety, veterans and health care. She believes that essential state funds should support and develop an education system that encourages parents, teachers, administrators, civic leaders and business leaders to work together to develop curricula that prepare students for today’s global economy.

One of Georgiadis’ top priorities will be to support working families by maintaining current levels of investment in Connecticut’s economic infrastructure, including roads, highways and education. She will also continue her support for a woman’s right to make her own health care choices and will advocate for efforts to provide quality, affordable health care to Connecticut’s working and self-employed families.

Georgiadis says she also supports the recent efforts to curb opioid abuse and over-prescribing by providing uniform standards for insurance coverage and substance-abuse treatment, strengthening prescription-drug monitoring and strengthening penalties for possession and distribution of opioids.

Georgiadis is a past recipient of the Sherman PTA Volunteer of the Year Award and has served on the board of directors for the Patterson Club and the Fairfield Garden Club. She worked for Time Inc., the Hearst Corp. and Condé Nast and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She and her husband, Martin, have four sons and have lived in Fairfield for 25 years.

The 132nd District is currently represented by Republican Brenda Kupchick.
