Commuters Can Enjoy Free Coffee On The Go At Fairfield Metro Train Station

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- State Sen. Tony Hwang is teaming with The Buzz Truck to bring free coffee to Metro-North commuters at the Fairfield Metro railroad station on Monday.

The Buzz Truck, founded by Southport residents Alex and Jessica Grutkowski, will bring free coffee to the Fairfield railroad station on Monday, in celebration of National Coffee Day, which falls on Sept. 29 this year.

It’s also sure to be a welcome gesture to Fairfield Metro commuters, who use a station that lacks a coffee vendor and public restrooms.

Hwang and The Buzz Truck will be set up in the parking lot side of the station (northbound) from 6 to 8 a.m. Look for the little black school bus.

Founded by Southport residents Alex and Jessica Grutkowski, The Buzz Truck hit the streets of Fairfield County in April of last year, serving organic, locally roasted coffee and made-from-scratch baked goods.

This mobile coffee shop sources items from other small local businesses including Shearwater Organic Coffee Roasters and Sweet & Simple Bakery in Fairfield’s Greenfield Hill, among others.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating National Coffee Day with Senator Hwang and Fairfield Metro commuters,” Jessica Grutkowski said. “We know how important a good cup of coffee is to starting the day off on the right foot and we’re happy to help meet that need.”

“I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate National Coffee Day than to offer a free cup to Fairfield Metro commuters from a locally owned business,” Hwang said. “It’s a small way I can show appreciation to commuters as we continue to work with the entire Fairfield delegation and the Department of Transportation on both short- and long-term solutions to address the inadequacies at the station.”

“I always appreciate hearing from commuters about the benefits and challenges they experience as Metro-North riders,” Hwang added. “It makes me a better advocate for them."

The Fairfield station is at 165 Unquowa Road.
