Brenda Kupchick Wins Fairfield's 132nd House District

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Republican Brenda Kupchick won the race for Fairfield’s 132nd House District Tuesday. In unofficial results, she defeated Democratic challenger Sue Brand by a margin of 6,166 votes to 5,108.

“It is a tremendous honor for me to represent the people of my hometown,” Kupchick said Tuesday night. “I am overwhelmed.”

Kupchick wins her second term as state representative. She has served on Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting and the Board of Education. She co-runs a heating and cooling business based in Fairfield with her husband, Peter.

Brand is currently a member of Fairfield’s Board of Education, Board of Health and Cooperative Educational Services Representative Council. She also works as a cardiac nurse.

Kupchick’s win Tuesday night was more secure than it was for her first term, when she beat then-incumbent Thomas Drew by less than 50 votes in a race that went to a recount. She credited the win to the help of her many supporters on her campaign staff, friends and family.

“You can’t so this alone. It’s just so much work,” Kupchick said. “And to have people in your corner who are just so dedicated, who will just give up every weekend of their lives for months to help you, is a testament to friendship and camaraderie.”

The 132nd district covers Fairfield’s southern sections. It runs along the coast from the Westport border to Ash Creek, and extends as far north as Mill Hill Road and the Samp Mortar Reservoir in some areas.
