When officers arrived, they found a woman sitting in the middle of the road and a man by his car three feet away, police said.

According to the police report, the woman had gotten out of a jeep on the westbound side of the Post Road to enter the restaurant Molto as a car was turning left out of the Commercial Drive shopping center.

The driver told officers he looked in both directions, saw no cars and proceeded to pull out of the center, police said. He said he had almost no time to brake before hitting the woman, causing her to roll up onto the hood of his car, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police were still investigating the accident.
